Jakarta - Lin Che Wei? Jokowi Volunteers Who Are Now Suspects Of The New Cooking Oil Mafia, The Attorney General's Office has named Lin Che Wei as a new cooking oil mafia suspect in a corruption case in providing cooking oil export facilities or crude palm oil (CPO).

Lin Che Wei is suspected of conspiring with the main suspect, namely the Director General of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) Indrasari Wisnu Wardhana.

The determination of the suspect against Lin Che Wei is based on the Investigation Order of the Director of Investigation of the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes Number: Print-26/F.2/Fd.2/05/2022 dated 17 May 2022 and the Suspect Determination Letter (PIDSUS-18) Number : TAP-22/F.2/Fd.2/05/2022 dated 17 May 2022.

Who is Lin Che Wei

Reporting from the Encyclopedia page of the Central Stekom University, Lin Che Wei is a leading Indonesian economist who started his career as a financial analyst such as WI Carr, Deutsche Bank Group and Societe Generale. Lin Che Wei was born in Bandung on December 1, 1968, now 53 years old.

He is known for exposing the Lippo Bank scandal which resulted in him dealing with the court and being sued for Rp 103 billion by the Lippo Group. This case brought Lin Che Wei the Tasrif Award from the Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI) in 2003.

In addition, Lin Che Wei is also the recipient of the "Indonesian Best Analyst" award from AsiaMoney Magazine and "The Most Popular Analyst Award" in 2002 and 2004. From 2005 to 2007, Lin Che Wei served as the President Director of Danareksa. In 2007 and 2008, Lin Che Wei served as CEO of the Putera Sampoerna Foundation, an educational foundation founded by Putera Sampoerna.

Lin Che Wei also founded a research company that focuses on Policy Analysis and Industry Analysis Independent Research Advisory Indonesia.

Not only has a career in private companies, Lin Che Wei is also in government. Lin Che Wei has served as Special Staff to the Minister of State for SOEs, Sugiharto and Special Staff to Coordinating Minister for the Economy Aburizal Bakrie.

In 2014, Lin Che Wei became the Policy Advisor of the Coordinating Minister for the Economy Sofyan Djalil and became the Policy Advisor of the Minister of National Development Planning/Bappenas and the Minister of ATR/BPN and the policy advisor of the Coordinating Minister for the Economy Darmin Nasution.

His position as an advisor to the minister is still ongoing.

Jokowi Volunteers

In the 2014 presidential election contestation, Lin Che Wei expressed his support for Jokowi, who was then paired with Jusuf Kalla.

In a press conference entitled 'Manifesto of the People Who Don't Party' at the end of May 2014, Lin Che Wei assessed Jokowi as the right person to become Indonesia's leader.

"I believe I chose Jokowi because he is superior. Because when it comes to handling street vendors (for example), Jokowi has decided to organize rather than discipline.

He (Jokowi) tends to lead, not rule. Then also, Jokowi (that is) a person who cares," he continued.

Involved in CPO Corruption Case

Lin Che Wei was named a suspect in the CPO corruption case by the Attorney General's Office.

After being named a suspect, Lin Che Wei was detained for the first 20 days from May 17 to June 5, 2022.

Through his actions, Lin Che Wei was subject to Article 2 in conjunction with Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended and supplemented by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption in conjunction with .

Article 55 paragraph (1) 1 of the Criminal Code.
